Sixteen action-packed scenes, accompanied by an exciting, easy-to-follow text, chronicle the unforgettable events in the life of the legendary Greek strongman, among them the slaying of the dreaded Nemean lion and nine-headed hydra, capturing the man-eating horses of King Diomedes and subduing the ferocious Cretan bull.

A helpful visual for a classical home education
This coloring book provides the story of Hercules twelve labors with coloring pages. The pictures are stimulating and offer real detail to the pictures. Though not to much so that it deters my 4 yr old and 7 yr old daughters.
My main concern is that some of the pictures are smaller, in order to fit in with the story provided. I think the book should contain larger and more complete coloring pages, rather than the complete story. A brief synopsis of each picture would suffice. Since it is advertised as a coloring book.
But it is quite useful and enjoyable to scan and copy pages, and retain the complete book for use in future years and with our young children. Thank you Amazon, for offering these Dover books.

Too few pictures to really be a coloring book
In 30 pages there are 24 pictures to be colored and that is a bit disappointing I'm sure to any child that picks it up. ... The text is interesting but Blaisdell and Green never say where they get their information. Please note that this is not the TV Hercules with Kevin Sorbo -- it is much rougher and nastier even if the text is toned down a bit.
